Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim has ruled out any “panic buys” in the upcoming January transfer window, stressing that the club will remain committed to its long-term strategy despite injuries and looming AFCON absences for key players including Amad Diallo, Noussair Mazraoui, and Bryan Mbeumo.
Speaking ahead of United’s crucial clash with Newcastle, Amorim emphasized patience in recruitment: “If we can bring someone good… if not, then we will spend money in the summer.”
The Portuguese coach expressed satisfaction with veterans Harry Maguire and Casemiro, both out of contract in June, but admitted their futures remain undecided. He praised Casemiro’s professionalism, remarking: “If everyone works like him… you understand why he won five Champions Leagues.”
Amorim also highlighted the imminent returns of captain Bruno Fernandes and rising star Kobbie Mainoo, calling Mainoo “the future of Manchester United” and ruling out any loan move. He pointed to academy talents Jack Fletcher and Shea Lacey, who impressed in recent debuts, as evidence of his faith in youth development.
United, currently seventh in the Premier League with 26 points from 17 games, face mounting pressure to improve. Amorim, however, remains focused on internal solutions rather than rushed signings, reinforcing his vision of stability and long-term growth.
